Matias Häkkinen

Matias Häkkinen has studied harpsichord in Sibelius Academy with Annamari Pölhö and Anssi Mattila, graduating in summa cum laude. In Helsinki Stadia University of Applied Sciences he graduated from piano having studied with Seppo Salovius and Joonas Pohjonen. Studies in harpsichord continued with Menno van Delft in Amsterdam and in Portugal; master courses with the late Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman, Laurence Dreyfuss, Pierre Hantai, Bob van Asperen, Huguette Dreyfus and Andrew Lawrence-King have still deepened Häkkinen’s expertise in period playing.

Häkkinen leads the continuo group of the EU Baroque Orchestra and acts as an artistic director for New Century Baroque Orchestra and Ensemble Nylandia.

He teaches harpsichord, continuo playing and chamber music in the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and in the Helsinki Conservatory. He has produced the Café Baroque concert series.
