Naoko Ichihashi graduated in 1981 from Tokio University of Music and continued her studies in the University of Indiana with György Sebök.
In 1986 she won a first prize in the piano competition of the Indiana University and in the same year she was rewarded as the best accompanist in the international Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
In 1987 she moved to Finland to work as a pianist in the Sibelius Academy and at the same she became a member of the Avanti Chamber Orchestra. She continued her studies in Paris L’Ecole Normal Superieur in 1991-92 with Mariana Ribick and received the Licence de Concert diploma.
Ichihashi has performed widely in Finland both as a piano soloist and a chamber musician.
From the 1990’s she has worked also as a teacher in the Tampere Conservatory.
