Reeta Maalismaa

Reeta Maalismaa started playing violin in the Music School of Länsi-Pohja, then in the Oulu Conservatory and in the Sibelius Academy with Mi-Kyung Lee, graduating with highest degrees in 2003. Later she studied in the Budapest Franz Liszt Academy with Vilmos Szabady and in various master courses with Ana Chumachenco, Valentin Zhuk and the Ysaÿe Quartet.

Since 2003 Maalismaa has played first violin in the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and she is also a member of Jousia Ensemble and Virtuosi di Kuhmo. Reetta Maalismaa performs widely as a chamber musician and she was nominated as the Young Artist of Kuhmo Chamber Festival in 2005.
