Takuya Takashima started with piano in Kawai Music School Japan, but played at the same time trumpet, saxophone and oboe in the school wind band. He graduated 2001 from Hokkaido University of Education in Sapporo (HUES). 2000-2001 Takashima studied as an exchange student in the Sibelius Academy with Jouko Teikari.
In 2000 Takashima won the first prize in the wind competition in Lahti. In 2001 he continued his studies in the Sibelius Academy playing at the same time in Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. Takashima studied also in 2007-2008 in Paris with Jacques Tys and baroque oboe with Rafael Palacius.
After graduating from the Sibelius-Academy with highest degrees Takashima has worked as the principal oboe in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
