Valentin Uryupin graduated from Moscow conservatory as a clarinet player (2009) and conductor (2012). His teachers list includes conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky and clarinet player Evgeny Petrov.
In 2015 Valentin took part in the international master class of maestro Kurt Masur and shortly after won All-Russian conducting competition in Moscow. 2016 brought him the Third prize of prestigious Gustav Mahler conducting competition, hold by Bamberger Symphoniker.
Since 2011 Valentin keeps position of permanent conductor in Perm opera and MusicAeterna orchestra, and since 2015 he is Principal conductor and artistic director of Rostov-on-Don Symphony Orchestra. As an assistant conductor he has worked with Valery Gergiev and Vladimir Jurowski.
Uryupin enjoys also an active career of clarinet player, performing and giving master classes extensively in Russia, Europe, USA, Japan and Singapore. He is a prize winner of about 25 international clarinet competitions, including most important of them – Geneva, Munich, Gent, Beijing, Pretoria.
