Washington Barella

Washington Barella studied oboe 1984-86 with Ingo Goritzki in the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover and finished his studies 1988-90 with Humbert Lucarelli in Hartt School of Music in Hartford USA.

In the 1980’s he worked as the solo oboist in the Campinas Symphony Orchestra in Brazil.

In 1991 Barella won the Third Prize in the ARD Competition in Germany.

Since 1992 he has worked as the solo oboist in the SWR Symphony Orchestra in Baden-Baden and Freiburg.

Barella has also been teaching in the Cologne Hochschule für Musik und Tanz and since 2012 as a professor in the University of Arts in Berlin.
